The Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Mold

Each year, Mold Town Council elects a Town Mayor and Deputy Mayor to serve as civic ambassadors for the town. Together, they represent the Council, champion local causes and promote everything that makes Mold a vibrant and welcoming place to live, work and visit.

For the current Civic Year:

Mayor of Mold – Councill Joanne Edwards

Councillor Jo Edwards has chosen “Saving a Life – Making a Difference” as the theme for her year in office. Working alongside community groups, charities and partner organisations, the Mayor aims to raise awareness and encourage initiatives that help make Mold a safer, healthier and more caring community.

Members of the public are warmly invited to share ideas, projects or opportunities that support this important theme.

Deputy Mayor – Councillor Pete Dando

The Deputy Mayor supports the Mayor throughout the civic year and steps in to represent the Town Council whenever the Mayor is unavailable. Councillor Pete Dando plays an active role in attending events, engaging with local organisations and promoting the interests of Mold, helping to ensure the Council maintains a strong presence across the community.

Championing Mold

The Mayor and Deputy Mayor are proud advocates for the town and regularly:

• Attend community events, festivals and celebrations.
• Visit local businesses to recognise achievement, encourage investment and celebrate success.
• Meet with charities, volunteers and community organisations to support their valuable work.
• Visit schools, youth groups and local projects to inspire civic participation and celebrate young people’s achievements.
• Recognise the contributions of individuals and organisations that make a positive difference to life in Mold.
• Promote Mold as a thriving market town with a rich heritage, strong community spirit and exciting future.

Through these engagements, they help strengthen connections across the community, raise the profile of local initiatives and celebrate the people whose dedication makes Mold such a special place.

Civic Leadership

In addition to representing the town at official engagements, the Mayor presides over meetings of the Full Council and serves as the ceremonial head of the authority. Both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor also support the Council’s wider objectives by fostering partnerships, encouraging community involvement and acting as proud ambassadors for Mold wherever they go.
