Volunteer Stories
Real People. Real Experiences. Real Community Spirit.
Every volunteer brings something unique to Mold Town Council. Whether it's a few hours helping at an event, sharing specialist knowledge, or simply wanting to give something back to the community. Here's what some of our amazing volunteers have to say.
Dave β βYou might just enjoy it!β
After retiring early following more than 40 years in his career, Dave decided to volunteer to support the events he had admired in the town. In just over a year, he's found friendship, learnt new skills and taken pride in seeing families enjoy events that he helped bring to life.
βI feel like I'm giving something back to the community. Give it a go β you might just enjoy it!β
Jane β βHelp yourself by helping others.β
Inspired by the dedication of existing volunteers, Jane joined the team a few years ago and has never looked back. She loves the community spirit, the sense of belonging and even finds litter picking surprisingly therapeutic!
βEven an hour or two makes a difference. Help yourself by helping others β you'll have loads of fun while doing it too!β
John β Sharing Mold's Story
A volunteer for around six years, John combines his passion for history with guiding visitors around Bailey Hill. He enjoys meeting people from around the world and uncovering fascinating stories about Mold's past.
βJust try it β you may be surprised how rewarding and fulfilling it can be. The pay is rubbish, but the company and cake are fab!β
Jo β βEvery little bit helps.β
Having lived in Mold all her life, Jo wanted to play her part in keeping the town's fantastic events alive. From her memorable first role as a "bodyguard" for a 12-foot robot at the Carnival to meeting new friends, volunteering has been both fun and rewarding.
βEven if it's just an hour of litter picking, it all makes such a massive difference.β
Lorna β 13 Years of Community Spirit
Lorna first volunteered to help revive the Mold Carnival in 2012 and has remained part of the organising team ever since. Seeing months of planning come together and watching the community enjoy the event keeps her coming back year after year.
βDo it β you'll enjoy it!β
David β Helping Make Novemberfest a Success
For seven years, David has volunteered with the Novemberfest, organising and managing the beer selection alongside fellow volunteers. He finds great satisfaction in seeing visitors enjoy the event and knowing he played a part in making it happen.
βIf you have some spare time, get involved. You will enjoy it.β
Jim β Friendship and Fulfilment
For Jim, some of the best moments come from the volunteer briefings and debriefings, building friendships and enjoying the satisfaction that comes from helping others.
βMore satisfaction volunteering than doing my day job. Do it!β
Rhian β Staying Active and Giving Back
After retiring, Rhian wanted to contribute to her local community. Volunteering has kept her active, introduced her to new people and allowed her to support events that showcase everything Mold has to offer.
βIt's a very worthwhile thing to do and helps promote the town.β
